Is it possible to install a tachometer on an '82 ford meteor GA/GB? (rebadged mazda)?

The car is the australian version of the mazda at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_323#1980
It does not come with a tach from the factory but I would love to put one in so I can monitor my engine a bit more precisely than just listening to it!
 
YES, absolutely possible ! !

the ignition has 2 plugs, each one has two cables im not sure what cable is but one of those cables will give you the tachometer signal

un-plug one plug and insert a cable until you get tach signal
very easy thing to do, once you find the cable cut it and with punch terminal put the cable back on position again
 
Any auto store sells a cheapish non genuine tacho you can fit to any car. Usually they wire up pretty easilly to the positive or negative power and connect to the pulsing wire of the coil. This is handy because by grounding this wire via a switch you can also set up a simple immobiliser to stop the car from starting.
