Is it possible to hike the AT in 100 days?

My friend and I are thinking about hiking the AT one summer between semesters, but it will only leave about 100 days. I read that the average is about 6 months. Hiking at 2.175 mph for 10 hrs/day would make this achievable, but is that possible?
