I recently purchased a new, but firmware-modified wireless G router on eBay - Linksys model WRT54G-TM. The firmware on the router was supposedly modified to DD-WRT for its' extra features. I hardly know what DD-WRT is, but anyway... No sooner I plugged everything in and went online my computer began showing continuous activity on the connection notification icon located near the desktop clock of my computer running XP. My computer had been acting like it had been hacked! I immediately logged-into the router configuration screen through my browser to re-set the name and security password, but this didn't help at all. It's only when I disconnected the router and went online directly without it that the connection notification icon showed no activity unless I opened the browser to a web-site. So I'm wondering if it's possible that the firmware that was flashed to my router had included some sort of hacking program?
