is it possible to go to college 17 years after graduating from high school?

I graduated from high school 17 years ago. I didn't pursue a college degree and joined the military instead.I'm now 37 and very interested in going to college but I'm scared due to the fact that I have not been to school in 17 years and I don't know how hard it would be taking classes specially english and math which I know are required for a degree.
I was looking into Ashford University and National University. Both universities have programs in Applied Behavioral Science ,Organizational Management and Homeland Security and Emergency Management which are the three areas i'm most interested in. The programs are all BAs and don't required me to take a placement exam like some community colleges do.I wonder if this might be too much to take on. Has anyone been in the same situation? would you please share your experience or at least give me some advice on what to do to pursue a college degree?
