Is it possible to get the Motorola i1 to be unlocked or delayed in being unlocked?

I have the Motorola i1 phone and it seems everytime I have a conversation...or I'm using the apps, it will lock up and I'll have to slide the graphic to unlock it. Is there a way to get this to be delayed? It drives me crazy.
