Is it possible to get 3g on AT&T with a mytouch 3g slide (which is for Tmobile)?

I was watching a video review on YouTube and the guy who was doing the review said that it would only work on edge for AT&T not 3g. But I have always thought that because they use the same 3g bands that it would so now I am really confused. Help!
