Is It possible to extract/open .map files into 3ds max 9?

I have extracted one of the maps out of Halo Reach and i want to open it in 3ds max 9.
Is there a program that can extract the map into .3ds file so i can open it or something close.
Or if there is an add-on to 3ds max 9 which does it for you?
