Is it possible to check if the recipient had read or receive the e-mail we sent ?

I'm talking about yahoo mail? Sometimes I want to know if the person I sent an e-mail to had already read or receive my e-mail yet. Is there a possible way to check the status? This is yahoo mail I'm talking about here. If yahoo mail can't do it, is there other mail that could ? Please help. Thank you
