I know, this is not a poem, but since most of my posting and answers are in the poetry section, I am placing this here.
D: Good morning, Ocean.
O: Good morning, Don. Take off your shoes and come closer, I will carress your tired feet.
D: Thank you, that feels good.
D: I have a question, are you a God?
O: Why do you ask such a question, Don?
D: Well, as I understand it, you created life on this planet.
O: No, Don, I did not create life, but I supplied the medium by which my creator created life within me..
D: Some look at you sa a God.
O: In the beginning, I was here. My earliest memory is of being the only thing on this planet. There was no dry land anywhere. I covered everything.
Then a light shown on me, and although the light only shone on half of me at a time, it was warm and nurturing. Small creatures grew in me, and over the following eons, became bigger creatures. There were small plants growing from the mud at my depths, and these fed some of the creatures, who were fed off of by bigger creatures.
D: Didn't they kill each other?
O: Oh, yes, but only for food, and the growth cycles outweighed the eating cycles, so the population of all creatures grew steadily.
D: What about primordial ooze, was it real?
O: Yes, very real. when the small life forms became so overpoplated that they began to choke themselves and die, my waters became thick slimey masses of death and decay, which actually produced other life forms more suited to it.
D: What happened to the ooze?
O: One day there was a voice. I could not understand what it said, but the planet began to shake and the bottom of my world began to tremble and parts of it rose out of my depths and became dry land. Some parts so high I cannot see the top.
D: Didn't that make the ooze thicker?
O: For a while, but it diminished my size and increased my depth, and my waters cleared and life flurished again.
Then some of the creatures in my water began to crawl out on the dry land and breathe the air.
D: You sound like a God.
O: No, but many worship me as a God, but I can only be what I am. I am the oldest thing on the earth, and as such I have garnered much knowledge and wisdom. Those who love me are loved in return, and those who hate me are loved as well. The creator taught me that at the beginning.
In time man will seek other places to live, if he doesn't destroy himself first.
D: Will we ever get to Mars?
O: Perhaps, but what you will find there is a dead planet, one which was similar in nature as this one, but in which life destroyed itself, and without life and nothing to nurture it, the planet has died and become a wasteland.
If mankind gets to mars, they must learn from the mistakes the old ones made, or they will be doomed to die the as the old ones did.
D: Thank you. One other question. Are you male or female?
O: Ha!!! I have had that question asked more times than I can remember.
I am Male!
I am Female!
I am Both!
I am Neither!
I am salt water. Your bodies are nearly all salt water. I am you, you are me, we are each other, we are billions, and we are one. Do you understand?
D: I think so. Each person has part of you as his body, so you are in each of us, therefore if you are a part of each of us and we are a part of you, then we are all part of each other, therefore every person is a part of me and I am a part of every person, so if I harm any of them, I harm myself also.
O: You understand well. The moon has turned, and I must go now to the other side of the earth. Come and see me again, I like our talks.
D: Via con Dios, Ocean. Until the morrow.
O: DosVidonya Don.
D: Good morning, Ocean.
