I left the half of an Apple charging cord at someone's house, and need to charge a Macbook. I disconnected the pre-adapter section of a Dell Inspiron charge cord and plugged it into the Mac adapter. After letting it charge for 20 or so minutes, the adapter got extremely hot. I checked and saw the Inspiron cord produces 7 amps at 125 volts, and the adapter accepts input normally of 1 amp at 100-240 volts. Is this still a viable option?
