from what i've seen, the rcc is one of the candidates for most liberal church. the profess tolerance more than the protestant and pentecostal churches, thats for sure. i think the catholic doctrine is one of the best suited for the liberal
Well on social issues Liberals favor abortion and are pro gay marriage.......The RCC is totally against those 2 social issues.........When it comes to abortion even more strongly then I am becasue the church would hope that the woman would carry the term 100 percent of the time...........
I voted NO because of the harRABhips that the RCC have been and are still having to endure, mainly because of their position on God's Word. Other than that I can't say - I'm not Catholic.
Only in one person's head is there the belief that all of America is ruled by the Roman Catholic Church. Heck, I would never be so presumptous, as to believe that.
Well a response..............I hope some day on social issues you will follow the doctrine of the church you say you belong to or why else be a member?
Don't really think that the RCC has much to say about levels of taxation (other than pay it), and its certainly for tolerance. So unless you have an abortion, or are gay then can't see any real problem with following doctrine and remaining liberal on most other topics.
Even then if you disagreed with the interpretation of the church on some aspects but didn't act on them (i.e become gay or have an abortion) surely you are still following doctrine.
Well being in the UK you may not know that during the last presidential election there was a move in the RCC here in the U.S. to withhold Holy Communion from pohn Kerry and any catholic politician who was for Abortion and gay marriage.......
That didn't come from the top of the organisation though did it, and isn't really justifiable. Beleiving in Catholic Doctrine and being pressured by the organisation are very different things - if not we are getting into the dangerous ground with doctrine being whatever someone in the organisation says, without even going onto the Inquisition.
And neither can you be a good Catholic if you're pro-death penalty, pro-contraception, and pro-war. You've admitted that you aren't the most devout Catholic, so why are you trying to exclude other sinners who take communion with the Church of Rome?
Catholics who practice what? I made no mention of any practices in post.
Indeed, yet you do not condemn contraception as the Church demanRAB. Likewise you supported Desert Storm II, which the Vatican officially condemned.
Being a Catholic doesn't mean that you have to impose Catholic doctrine into the law. I suppose that liberal Catholics reason that they can abstain from the "sins" the RCC defines while believing that other people should have freedom of choice with regarRAB to these "sins."
