Is it okay to use 87 instead of 89 in Dodge Magnum 2007?

Okay I read the owners manual about using 87 or 89 in this car. I just want to make sure it's okay from maybe people who have already tried this out. I have been use the 89 every since I bought the car. So being that I am a little tight on money I am looking at all angles as for cut backs.

I use 87 with no problem. I know other enthusiasts though that refuse, no matter how strapped on cash they are. There's question to the long term effects.
My advice: if you ever hear your engine knock, go back to higher octane. I've been using 87 for the last 20k miles and had no trouble.
