i work at a dental office as a dental assistant, the dr i work for turns off the water on the highspeed every time he finishes and polishes the composite fillings. i was wondering if this is safe in the terms of infection control? even though we are wearing masks at the time, the tiny composite dust particles(contaminated with blood and saliva) stay in the air long after the patient is gone, and i cant catch it all with the suction, is this okay? can you catch a blood borne disease by breathing in these contaminated particles? i dont know if im just being paranoid or if this is a valid safety concern...?
