Is it okay if I take a two-year gap before college/university?(UpPenn or Columbia)?

I'll be vying for a spot in either Columbia or UPenn. I have the credentials which I wouldn't discuss here.

However, I would need to take a two-year gap for a very big reason.



Will it affect my chances at all?
