Is it OK to keep an oscar in this tank?

I have a 70 gallon tank with 1- 5 in yellow lab, 1- 4 in blue spotted texas cichlid, 1- 4 in red jewel, 1- 4 in demasoni, 1- 4 in mixed cichlid, 1- 3 in frontosa, 1- 6 in pleco. The oscar i want is about 2-3 in. If not are there any other cool fish i can keep in there.
 
Oscars are South American, you mentioned African. They have different water chemistry.
 
I dont recommend putting an oscar in that aquarium, reasons being that oscars can grow to 14in. and might eat your other fish at some point, my oscars are about that size and can fit half a goldfish in their mouth (the goldfish are like half the size of them)Hope This Helps~Sincerly Cori~
 
I don't know much about oscars other than that they will eat most other fish...You seem to have a lot of fish in there.the following website says to avoid Chiclids
 
oscars require acidic ph 6.5, african need 8.0. ph think about it............................
 
Sounds like you already have alot of fish in there already. I wouldn't recommend an oscar. I have a 75 gallon tank and all I keep in it are 2 oscars, 1 pacu, and 1 cichlid. As all these fish tend to get big quickly I do not ever get more than that even when they are small. I would say stick with what you have, they seem to be doing well and they still have some room to grow.
 
Your tank is already stocked to capacity. Also, Oscars do best in soft water, and the others you have (except the jewel) need hard water to thrive.So no, don't put an Oscar in there.The Oscar may be 2 or 3 inches long now, but soon enough it will be about a foot long. The same is true of the Texas Cichlid, and the Frontosa. The pleco will be around 2 feet long when full grown.
