is it ok to cook with teflon for birds?

I know the fumes are toxic and can kill birds. But I need to know if the food touching the teflon will harm a Cockatiel. For example: I want to cook something for my Cockatiel, so I put him in a different room and close the door. I finish cooking and let the fumes die off. Will the food itself now be harmful?

NO. even though the fumes are not in the air anymore and don't harm humans when ingested, fume chemicals can still be found in the food. Avoid teflon completely as far as any bird is concerned. If you have any doubts, check out the site I used as my resource. DON'T risk your pet's life with something silly and simple like teflon.

PS - why are you cooking for your tiel in the first place??

well a bird shouldnt have cooked food. and i wouldnt risk it its still teflon. teflon chips and comes off bit by bit over time. so i would suggest not doing it.
