Is it OK to buy Jeep Wrangler that has high mile-age such as over 100,XXX?

I heard from people that is is not good to buy cars that has high miles on it. Becasue it would soon break down or something. I am wanting to get a jeep wrangler but most of the used cars i searched for has over 100,000 miles on it. :(
 
if the wrangler has the 4.0 engine in it i have seen them with 289,000miles on them. i would buy one if it was good price and had nothing over 140,000miles. also get one thats a manual
