Is it OK that I asked him to dance at the dance last night?

We were dancing with other people next to each other and he looked really bored of he girl he was with, and then the dj said snowball so we were just standing there and i said 'hey matt' and put my hands on his shoulders, and he put his hands on my hips and we were dancing and he kept smiling at me.

then two of our friends who really like each other were dancing but like hugging too and i said 'wow isn't that cute?' and he said 'yeah' and then a fast song came on.

so does it matter that i somewhat asked him?
 
No, that was probably a good thing as it made him feel comfortable and less bored.
