I have stripped the piece using Citristrip orange gel stripper. I've stripped it twice using two separate coats of stripper. I can see the grain of the wood through the residual paint that's left, but can't seem to get rid of the residual black paint. This is my second time stripping the piece, because I had first used latex paint and it never dried. Now, the paint is all but gone but the wood still has some tack. Can I just let it dry as is and paint primer over it before painting? Or does the paint have to be totally gone? I'm just not sure what else to do short of sanding and using mineral spirits, which I've already done once.
