Is it normal that pregnant women have a personal cook?

I am not from the United States, so I need some clarification on something that may be a cultural issue.

My wife told me that during the nine months of her pregnancy, she will most likely not work and does require a personal cook to prepare meals for her as well as a fitness trainer to keep her in shape.

Considering that we are far from rich (middle class actually), I do not find it to be very reasonable, so I would like to ask if this is very common in the United States for pregnant women to not work and have their personal caretakers.

In my culture, pregnant women take about six weeks from work immediately before and after birth and do not have any personal caretakers, so I need some clarification on this issue.

Thank you in advance for any answers that you are willing to share.

no whats she's asking is not the norm in most middle class households. Some women work up to and past their due dates!!

Unless her doc says that she should be on bed rest the entire pregnancy she does not need a chef and even on bed rest you can get up to cook and go potty and if she is on bed rest she won't have any need for a personal trainer.

her not working is a financial question only you can answer based on how much you need her income to pay bills etc.

It's definitely not customary for anyone other than the rich (who have personal cooks and trainers anyway). However, is she has a high risk pregnancy, she may not be able to do certain things for herself per doctor's orders.

Women are not fragile little flowers during pregnancy. She should be able to take care of herself. If she has personally saved up the money for this and wants to spend it on a cook and trainer, fine. If not? Sorry to say, but she sounds a bit spoiled and selfish to me.
