Depression tends to narrow a persons emotional perception of everything around them. An issue that would normally be brushed off becomes traumatic and stressfull, something comical becomes irritating..etc.
Try to take a moment to asses where you are in life, and where you would like to see your life going and what you would like to change. The worst part of depression is the feeling that you are stuck where you are nothing can undo the situation. Studies on animals show that when an animal feels trapped with no hope for escape, it leads to severe emotional trauma and eventually a deep depression.
Hopelessness is the #1 cause for depression in my opinion. Take a minute, ask yourself what you want to change about your life and work towards it every single day until you're red in the face and tired and worn out, with your knuckles bloody from the fight and your eyes red from tears.
The alternative is to remain where you are, unchanging, sedentary and hopeless, counting the years pass by you as you wait for your short time on this spinning rock to run out.
