I've always never been popular, only having one or two true friends that are very very close to me.
Well, I have been friends with one of them for more than seven years now (we're in 8th grade), and we NEVER had an arguement. It would be extremely weird if we did. For example, if I'm helping her with a math problem, and I tell her something, and she would say, "but don't you have to_____" Then if i said, "Well actually you have to do this _____" or something like that, even if she really thought that you had to do what she thought, she would never argue and try to prove me wrong. She would just say oh okay and then keep going.
But recently I got a new friend who I now sit by in math class, and it's like every day when i'm trying to help her,...she argues with me. Believe me, I'm TOTALLY against arguing with my friends. The only person i ever argue with is my brother(haha). But never would i argue with a classmate or a friend like that. If i'm teaching her a problem, (she struggles with math and math is my best subject) she just always has to try to prove me wrong when i tell her that that's really how you do it and i show her an example in the book, but she just REFUSES to listen and she just uses this whiny attitude voice trying to prove me wrong but i don't try to fight her. I just stay quiet. But she just talks over me like that. I just get up and go to the bathroom or just stay quiet when she does that and don't help her anymore.
What should I do? What do I say to her? I know she has a really sassy negative bad attitude and i know that she is jealous of me but i really don't know what to do. She also is just plain mean to other classmates, like she treats them like they're siblings. (she's an only child if that's why) But i don't think only childs do that. I would never yell and argue with one of the people in my grade like that. So i really need help, we have become pretty good friends but she just needs to learn. Thank you so much.
