is it normal for a finger tattoo to create an open wound?
i recently got a cross on the side of my finger at the beginning of the week and its healing but with an opening of the skin down the whole cross, especially wider where the two lines intersect to create the cross.

p.s. i have multiple tattoos so i know the healing process and general aftercare, but this is my first finger tattoo and i am aware that the healing is a bit more difficult on this area of the body, and was wondering if this was a normal part of healing. also I've spoken to my artist already and he didn't have much to say about it but take extra care of it, and it shouldn't be doing this at this period. just wondering if it's infected.

you said: "also I've spoken to my artist already and he didn't have much to say about"

I am not surprised that your tattoo predator didn't have much to say about it. These predators encourage vulnerable young people to get tattooed, so they can make money off of them. They do not care that they are causing harm.

About your open wound, I suggest you go to a doctor. tattoos are a high-risk event, where you are risking substantial harm to your body to satisfy your vanity. You will experience a lot of pain and you will bleed. You will not be in a hospital or operating room, and there is a chance you will catch some vile blood-born disease like hepatitis or flesh eating bacteria. Your wound may become infected. The so-called "tattoo artist" may make a mistake and you will be stuck with the results.
