Is it normal for a dentist to argue with their patient about a mismatch in a composite

filling? I had a composite filling done on my tooth last week and the color was so incredibly mismatched that it looked like my tooth was two different colors and there was a crack in the middle. When I showed my wife, she urged me to get this fixed.

When I showed up to the dentist office, I was 20 minutes without anyone seeing me, and the dental assistant questioned why I was worried about a "back tooth." The dentist came and fixed the problem, but denied there was a problem at all and said tooth colors were difficult to match. Based upon prior experiences, my dentist's always gave me a mirror before leaving to see the filling and the color ALWAYS matched to where you could not tell a filling was there.

Am I wrong to be so upset? What are other people's experiences?

Not totally.
But if the colour really is hard to match, then...well...No. You can't expect perfection every time. My fillings are black. Bleh.
Crack in the middle? Like a normal tooth, or like it's breaking? If the latter, then, yes, you have a right to be upset.

I can see the doctors point, it's like worrying about wearing mix-matched socks when you are wearing pants. but I think you have the right to be upset. This is your body, not his. He's not the one that's gonna have to live with it the rest of his life.

And in the denists, its normal to have to wait until someone sees you. Its called a waiting room. :)
