Is it normal for a brand new 2009 honda fit to struggle past 40 mph?

Not looking for anyone to tell me the honda fit sucks. I already purchased it and am fine with this car so far, except for what is being posted.

I bought it from a dealer brand new because of it's 9.3 rating and good reliability for affordable small cars. I have an automatic. The acceleration was above average then. It's about a week later and notice I have to step on the gas more. On freeways I almost have to floor it just to catch up to speed with everyone else. The car maintains the same speed, and around five or six second later, seems to recognize I'm pushing on the gas pretty good, only then does it go faster.

I also have to step harder on the brakes because it likes creeping forward. I stopped at a red light today, started digging through my purse, only to look up and realize the the car was very slowly inching forward - even though my grip on the brake was pretty good.

Is this normal?

Not sure if this is due to the fact that I'm just getting used to driving such a different car from my old one.

Tired of people tailgating and cutting me off on the freeway. They are starting to get really close and it makes me nervous. Especially when I'm going 55-60 and the cars around me are going anywhere from 70-100 mph on the freeways.
I'm not looking to haul a**. And I wouldn't call it hauling a** to get past 40 either.

As for the consumer reports, Ive researched it. I've done a whole he** of alot of researching on this car, and it's getting better reviews than the toyota I originally wanted.

thanks for nothing.
Jerry, thanks for your input but
why would it already be clogged when it's only about a week old and brand new? What could be clogged?

And how would a computer problem make the acceleration slower?

If it drove better when you first bought it, then something may have gone wrong. I'm assuming its still new and you are covered by warranty... so you should take it back to the dealership to be looked over. Explain your problems and let the technician diagnose it for you.
