Is it necessary to use screen protector?

I don't buy screen protectors cause I don't use touch-screen devices. if I did, I would. I've had my N73 since mid-august with not a scratch, had the e62 less than that. I treat my phone better, too though. don't put it in a pocket with anything else, i don't lay it directly on a table (face up or down) and i have a cradle for my truck.

However, I DO leave the factory screen protector on till it falls off (or till one corner gets really bad, that annoys me). I've had the screen protector on my E62 since early january and it's fine. the little silver part in the corner slightly annoys me but no worries.

when i sell my **** on ebay and tell everyone how there is not a single scratch on my phones because i pamper them, i get at least 50 bucks more than the other scumbag sellers who scratched thier phones

so it all depends on why you wanna protect it. if a 450 dollar n73 is gonna stay with me forever, then who gives a rats as$ but if i know ima sell the phone in 2 months, ima keep it brand new..and i will get all my money back

All I know is I sold an iPod Gen III 40gb for double what all the others on eBay were going for late last year. It was 3 years old and looked new out of the box (screen, buttons, back chrome, everything). It was used almost every day during that time.

Exact same results for several cell phones that I've eBay'd.

Pretty decent ROI for less than ~$5 per device and 10 minutes of my time.
 
With Martin Fields or Clarivue, you don't have to use soapy water or anything like that.you just have to make sure the surface of your screen is free of all dust and apply it. They're supposed to be reusable, but I've never tried it since the old ones won't fit new phones.
 
The soapy water helps if you make mistakes. You can still slide it around into place instead of having to worry if its all lined up the first time.
 
It's only a silver tab under the screen protector. If you peel it back, you should be able to grab it with your fingers or a pair of tweezers and pull it off.
