Is it legally ok for a business to lock its doors and post a sign in the window and

say "we are no lo? When I got to work the other day I came across a sign in the window saying that we are no longer in business. I had no clue that we were closing! My manager pulled up as I was about to call him and he too had no idea we were closing. Both of us thought it was a joke and we tried to get in anyway. But our keys didn't work. We tried calling the owners but they were ignoring our calls! So
I want to know if it legally ok for a Business to close, without telling the employees that they are. Because it doesn't seem right.
