Is it legal to sell my friend's bike?

My friend left his bike at my house about three or fours months ago and is refusing to pick it up because he is too lazy. It has become an inconvenience as it is taking up space in our garage and we have to try and call him every few days for him to pick it up.

So is it legal to put my friend's bike up for sale if I give him advanced warning that I will do so and he still neglects it?

dude sell his sh!t. you might as well make some money out of it.
"tomb raider" doesn't know what they're talking about.

against the law?
no way...

Send your friend a certified letter (and also send it to him regular mail) letting him reminding him that his bike is at your residence and that he has refused to retrieve it. State that he has until *this* date to pick up his bike or else you will have no recourse but to sell it or trash it. You should be covered if he decides to be a jerk and sue you (which I doubt since he would be too lazy to carry his butt to civil court to file papers).

You may want to send this "friend" a registered letter to the effect that he is in jeopardy of losing his bike, make sure you have a copy of the letter

no its not legal to sale others possesions but it would not of stayed in my yard or home for more than a few days. all you got to say is you put it beside your house and some one stole it!

I don't know the law in your state but there's a concept called "abandoned property." The law will set out the time frame when the original owner loses his rights.

Putting aside the law, why not bring it back to your friend (?) especially if it's inconvencing you?
