...contract without parents? Hi there, I signed a contract membership for Goodlife Fitness Gym when I was only 17 (not yet age of majority). I have not been to the gym in a long time and now they sent my owing balance to collections. I was just wondering if the contract is actually eligible and legal due to the fact that I was 17 when I signed it. They never asked me how old I was but they asked me for I.D. and birthday which I gave them and they said nothing against it. It doesn't say anything on the contract about having to be 18. And yet they still allowed me to sign a ONE YEAR financial commitment contract without consent of my parents. Isn't that illegal?
Yes I am infact trying to get out of it. I was SEVENTEEN when I signed this contract. I had just moved to Toronto. I was naive. I am not 19. You learn alot in that time. It was wrong of Goodlife Fitness to be so careless as to let a minor sign a 1 year financial commitment, it was also very stupid of them. Their legal behavior in general seems to be very "wishy-washy".
