Is it legal to download a book via torrent if I own it?

I recently downloaded a book through torrents and was caught by an anti-p2p group and I was wondering if its illegal if I own the book? Wouldn't it just be a backup?
 
good question, depends on the book really, if its really old, then they really will not care, if its new they will.

But i would assume that if they were to question u, you can just show them ur book, i think ur fine dude =D
