My health insurance had my address correct for every department except one that processes claims that need more information. Somehow that address was changed to my ex-husbands address. An address I had never lived at nor used. I have been divorced over three years and have no contact with my ex. My insurance company doesn't know if this was a glitch from when he was switched off of my insurance and onto his own coverage (we worked for the same company for about 6 months after our divorce) OR if he called in.They will not give me any straight answers at all about this. This mess has caused many claims being denied and took months of trying to figure out what was going on. Is this a violation of HIPAA privacy act of my insurance do to this? What would be fair compensation for this? Them to pay late fees and co-pays? Or? Thanks!
