I always thought that Los Angeles was to be written L.A., but a lot of magazines/newspapers call themselves LA (LA Daily, LA Times, etc...)

I want to quote something on my website out of a magazine that starts with LA, but I think it should be written L.A.

What do you all think?

It can be either way, but yes LA can be mistaken for Louisiana. Los Angeles has so many institutions that are easily recognizable such as LAPD, UCLA and others that most people quit using the periods long ago.

L.A. stands for Los Angeles/LA is the state abbreviation for Louisiana. I don't know why thewritten media does what they do with no periods between the letters. Take care.
