Is it just me or do people not grasp the concept of what a debate is?

I am very aggressive when I debate, especially about topics I am very passionate about.
Do any of you my fellow lgbters when debating in this section with morons....I'm sorry, I meant the people who are wrong :-) do you get the feeling that you're debating with someone who just doesn't get what debate means??
 
i have found it is best not to debate with these morons. it's pointless as they have their minds made up and nothing you can do short of having God itself come down and strike them - will change anything.

it takes more out of me to debate with them, than it does to ignore them.

my self value and worth is more important than their bigotry.
 
At times I do, however, I have pretty much learned to temper my answers, and also to pick and choose my battles.

The way I look at it is if somebody threw a war and nobody came eventually they'd surrender.
 
I know what you mean.

It is especially frustrating when you give a long, well-though-out rebuttal answer to their stupid question, and they respond by deleting their own question.
