naturally decompose in the ground? Now I feel that in the whole of the universe there's a conservation of matter and energy etc.. But here on earth we have a limit to our resources. So what I'm wondering is, if I were to be cremated, would that be just as good for the earth as if my body just decomposed? I don't understand very well the chemistry of burning something, but I know a chemical change takes place right? So if we were to burn up my body would the ensuing chemical change alter my body in such a way that makes it more difficult for plants and animals to use?
My guess is that over billions of years it wouldn't make a difference if I were burned or just placed in the ground. But in the relative short term, I wonder if just being placed in the ground would be better - like turning me into fertilizer for some fruit-bearing plant.
Anyone have any ideas?
