I heard that its illegal to show real magic on the TV or footage of voodoo.

Theres footage from africa showing voodoo being used and people floating. But it cant be shown!

That's right, and there are also very strict laws against showing footage of the real Father Christmas and the tooth fairy.

The BBC were going to show exclusive footage of the Easter Bunny last year but the Christian churches all grouped together and took out one of those super injunctions to stop it as they were worried people would forget the real meaning of Easter.

Honest, it's true.

:D:D

i been doing voodoo for years on the ex wife but its not worked ! seriously do we really care ? its all in the mind mate! thats voodoo s main weapon against people if they are stupid to believe it then it will happen.
voodoo is traditional means of "gaining power " in the more backward countries of the world and many politcians have use it for hundreRAB of years. to get rid of rivals. (normally they just send in the boys to terminate someone ,this is cheaper ! ) I cant see showing real voodoo on tv would be of any interest. Hey dont the adveriseing compnanies use it to persuade us to buy a product. Like useing a pretty model or a situation or even a well known actor or sports personalty to advertise there product. Surely this is vooooooodoooooooo

Now that you mention it, you might be on to something.

I haven't seen any real voodoo or magic on TV.

Please tell us more about these floating Africans and this TV ban.

If they float then they are witches (or warlocks) and should be burned at the steak for their own good. But not on TV as that could promote saucery, especially if it goes well with the steak.

Theres me thinking i would get some semi serious answers.

I'm sure i saw a programme where they said they couldnt show it due to broadcasting laws

Its against the law as it may encourage idiots to vandalise dolls.

As Hedey Lamarr (Sorry Hedley) in Blazing Saddles once said "Now, go do that voodoo that you do so welllllll"

Sorry, I was hoping that you were joking in the first place.

Even if it was against the broadcasting codes you'd still get it on youtube if it existed.

It's not magic that they can't show, what is prohibited is showing all the steps to hypnotise someone.

Otherwise Derren Brown would rule the world. Or perhaps even worse, Paul McKenna.

You could show a documentary about it, or even an entertainment programme, but you can't present such things as 'fact'.
The usual disclaimer goes like 'there are differing opinions on blah blah blah and this programme is for entertainment only'.
They'd probably also throw in 'don't try this at home'.

How exactly would you table such a law? You might believe it but officially there is no such thing as real magic and you could probably make a case for Songs of Praise being "occult".

I believe s

I remember watching a documentary on ch4 about 2 or 3 years ago which was about a small village in Africa where black magic & voodoo was practiced. If i remember correctly there was footage shown of voodoo aparently at work.

Earlier this year there was a programme on the FX channel that investigated Voodoo amongst other mysteries. There was also footage of voodoo shown.

I think given the original question you actually got the most sensible answers you could have hoped for!

Unless, of course, you believe voodoo is anything but fantasy used to gain power and control?
