I know it's illegal to share DVD rips of copyrighted material, but I pose a different question. If a TV show is aired on public Television, and I were to record it via a DVR or any other means: Is it illegal to upload / download it via peer-to-peer software?
I recently got back from Afghanistan, and have consequently lost a year's worth of television watching. There's a bunch of good Television that has happened in that year. I'm not saying that I shouldn't have to go buy that stuff, but I want to know if I'm within the lines of the law if I were to download some.
I'm not looking for opinions here, I'm looking for hard facts. Please cite sources, as opinions won't hold up in court. Thanks in advance
