Is it illegal to hitch hike?

i see people hitch hike all around but i heard thats its illegal. i also heard that its ok to do but just not an the freeway or highway

As far as I know, hitch hiking is illegal, I know it is in Michigan.

in wisconsin, yes. definately don't do it on a on ramp to a highway, that's definately going to get you picked up. i had to call in a homeless person that was doing it and the operator said that was illegal for sure.
