Is it illegal to cheat business owners by doing this?

Is it illegal to have a business's workers stop working there and then work for you,

and tell the owner I will give them back to you if you pay me x amount of money?

would this be extortion? If not illegal, what would other possible legal ramifications result from this?
No I am not kidnapping the workers.
 
It isn't extortion...it's stupidity. How are you going to convince the workers to give up a paycheck and a secure job, possibly one with medical, life insurance and pension benefits unless you can offer them something better on a full time, permanent basis? Are you prepared to pay these workers and to provide them with benefits...full time...permanent? And when you approach the owner of the business that you "stole" these employees from, do you think he is going to give you money for the privilege of re-hiring these fickle, disloyal workers? In this economy??? With a 10+% unemployment rate??? By the time you approach him he will already have hired replacement workers and he will tell you to go pound sand. Are you really this stupid? What an idiotic idea. Yeah...go for it...please!
