Is it illegal to buy paint under 18 years old?

I went into Walmart today to purchase acrylic paint. I bought a few bottles of green and tried to buy a bottle of black. They would not let me since I am under 18. I can buy all the green I wanted, but no black. Is it illegal for me to buy black paint since I am under 18? It is not even spray paint.
It was the same brand
 
They assume that black acrylic paint will be used for graffiti. Why they don't think the other colors would be, I have no idea.
 
thats weird..... maybe there is a different chemical in black than there is with green. ive heard that with red...i guess if its their policy then its their policy...

no it was probably because of a can limit. some stores won't sell over a certain number of cans, whatever the colour of the paint or age of the person, because they think it will be used for graffiti.
