Is it illegal/against the law to ride this far to school by bike?

I want to ride my bike to school but my mum reckons that I wouldn't be allowed because i'm underaged. I'm 14 and the school is about 7-10 km away. For about 3/4 of the way to school, I can take the bikeway.

I've been riding my bike since I was 2 and have been going long distance to Glenelg and stuff.

So is it?

while i don't think that's very far, the issue here is that your mom does. she makes the rules. she is probably concerned about your safety. that's a good thing. you need to just deal with it. maybe next year she will feel more comfortable with it.

Most places do not have laws stipulating an minimum age for riding a bike as long as it is done safely. If you are opting out of the school's transportation program, the issue pretty much lies between your mom and you.

Please do check your local laws to make sure you are in compliance (in regards to required equipment, reflectors, etc.)
