Is it good to have more than one author write a book?

I don't think it's good or bad. It's all up to you. Some authors prefer to write independently, so they can do what they want, without having to check with a partner. Others prefer to write with someone else, so, as you said, to finish it faster and to have a another person to help develop the plot.

It really doesn't matter either way. The book will sell fine either way you write it. :)
