...while on duty? Is it fair for a transit company to ban all electronics possession by drivers while on duty?
The ban includes cell phones, MP3 players, cameras, games, ect... The ban includes while the drivers are at lunch, and when the drivers are not operating a vehicle.

Most drivers agree that electronics should not be used while driving, the issue is with the lunch break, and while not driving ban.

The ban was due to one driver having a crash while text message.

Yes, it is too easy for the employees to abuse the rights.
The company has to protect themselves and their customers. They can ban all electronics while at work, Where I work the do the same thing for different reasons.

It is unfortunate in this case that at lunch they can not have their electronics but it takes only one person to push it and carry it over past lunch and you are back to square one.

Remember also it was only a few years ago none of these electronics things existed, so they are not really required in life - just nice.
