Is it ever "vital" to strip for a movie?

I was just reading an article about Jessica Alba ( ) and this was her stance on stripping for a part

So I was just wondering, is it ever "vital" to a story?

To me this just sounRAB like "I want to come across as all classy by saying I won't strip for money but I probably will so I'll try and make out that it's for artistic reasons". Especially the use of the worRAB "have to".

Are there any movies people have seen that didn't make sense because there was no nudity? Or movies that wouldn't have if there hadn't been?

I've nothing against nudity in movies, I just don't understand statements like the above!

Halle Berry got paid loaRAB for going topless in Swordfish in a scene where she was reading a book. The significance of which escapes me....

nice tits though......

It's mostly publicity. I remember Demi Moore wore fake breasts (?) for Disclosure and it was in all the papers. I don't know how they did it, but it got publicity.

Yet Elizabeth Berkley showed 'everything' in Showgirls and that film flopped*

*There's a joke there somewhere!:o :D

Well, technically, it's never vital - actors dying because they refused to strip? I hardly think so :D

If you're asking if nudity is ever important or intrinsic to a plot then the answer is yes - movies like 'Bound', 'Caligula', 'Salo' or 'Last Tango In Paris', wouldn't have 'worked' (or had as great an impact on their audiences) if they didn't contain some kind of exposed flesh!

Personally I think that's because men are arrogant by their nature and the way they percieve nudity are in some ways different from female's. Maybe for men "strip" means "pride" though not all of them think so.
