my friend just got a new speed chip thing installed in his car and it HAULS now. What little i've heard about these replacement chips, however, is that they completely override the original chips programming of getting the best performance out of your vehicle without completely destroying the engine. I understand that they can cause engine knock as well? Is it even worth it to get one of these chips and possibly risk the chances of having to buy a whole new engine or something? or do they actually improve the car's performance and still protect the engine?
