is it common to have to replace an 02 sensor in a 2006 dodge charger?

here is my issue. i had a dodge dealership work on my car cause my heater was blowing cold air and my thermostat would stay cold no matter how long the car had been running. they told me there was erosion on my heads and they needed to be replaced. i asked for the parts back, took them to a machine shop to be tested and the test results proved no erosion anywhere on the heads. they refused to give me any type of refund and said that we pay for their expertise as they also admitted they never sent the parts out to be tested and because they have seen a similar problem before they assumed i had the same problem. i had them investigated by the bureau of automotive repair then all of a sudden they wanted to offer me a partial refund. low and behold on 06/24 i started having the exact same problem with my car now to be told there was a problem in my cooling system which they had replaced many other parts the first time.
they supposedly fixed the issue. i parked my car on the night of 07/01 and did not drive it again until 07/06 when my check engine light came on again. i drove back to the delearship and they said now i had a problem with my 02 sensor and that it was totally unrelated to the problem i had with them before (OF COURSE). i took it to another auto repair place and they said for the year and make of my car it is not common for that particular part to go out and that it may have been uplougged. i was just curious if that couold be possible given everything i have been through with this place and now all of a sudden another issue. seems kind of funny.

It is common on any vehicle to replace parts that become defective. If it were not, it wouldn't be necessary to have spare parts available.
However, I would check for whatever malfrugalty caused the failure.
