affect credit the most? We are slowly sinking. Too much month left at the end of the money. Me and my wife both work full time and make good money but our credit cards are over $65k. We are way upside down in our home and have tried to sell in the past without success. My parents are moving out of their house (retiring, moving on) and have offered to rent us their house until we get back on our feet. I am slated to loose my job due to company cutbacks within the next year to year and half. We also need the wife to stay home more and only work part time to take care of the kids...we feel we are loosing control and the kid's grades and behavior is deteriorating. We are thinking maybe we should let the house go (which we can't afford, our payment is over $3k/month), move into my parents house and pay rent (this is nice because there is no credit checks, applications, first and last months rent, nothing, we just move in), let the wife go part time to take care of the kids and stay current on everything else we can (credit cards, auto loans, etc). Our rent payment would be $1100/month. We have looked at bankruptcy but do not qualify for a chapter 7, only a 13. We are currently enrolled in a debt management program on all of our credit cards. That payment is over $1200/month.
