Is it better to receive a masters in the language you are teaching or to receive a

masters in education? I am wanting to be a Spanish language professor. I am right now going towards my bachelors, but after will pursue my masters degree followed my doctorate to teach at the University level.

I am wondering is it better to receive a MA in the language I will be teaching (Spanish) and my BA in Secondary Foreign Language Education or to receive my MA in Foreign Language Education and BA in Spanish?
 
I would go for the MA in Foreign Language Education and BA in Spanish. Foreign Language Education seems like a much broader topic that you would whether have a Masters in.

I have my BA in Early Childhood Ed and my MA in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading. My Masters allows me to teach reading in any grade level but I can only teach up to 4th with my BA.
