Is it better to convert my AVI, MPEG, or MP4 vids to FLV before uploading to...

...Youtube or Dailymotion? Some of the AVI, MPEG, and MP4 vids are DV, some MP4 are HD. I only have the freeware Riva FLV encoder, although the vids were rendered with Sony Vegas Pro9. I've always wondered if I will get better quality in Youtube if I do the FLV conversion before uploading them. Any help appreciated, thanks.
 
There is going to be no advantage to converting them beforehand. The software that YouTube uses to convert the videos is much better than anything you can get for free out there. Let YouTube do the work for you.
