Is it better to buy a new car in Texas or Oklahoma, while I'm in the military?

I am stationed in OKC but I have kept my state residence in Texas. Is it better to purchase in OK or drive to Dallas to purchase. Is state sales tax only paid to Texas since this is where I will registar the car? Any other advice from folks on Active Duty who have kept Texas residence but are stationed elsewhere?

You can buy a car where you live and keep your old residence.

You only pay the sales taxes for the state where you buy the car.

You get it registered for the state you live in. When you move, simply wait until the registration expires, and renew it in the state you live in then.

You might be able to have it shipped for free where ever you go next. You'll have to ask how much you're allowed to have shipped.
