is it bad to let my 2 month old sleep in his swing?

My nephew always slept in his swing and to be honest with you his back looked weird, like a football players. My sister in law and brother would wrap him up like burrito and prop a bottle and put him in his swing. One day I cried when I saw him, I saw it as neglect and cruel. He can't get out, he can't roll over, he can't stretch! And he always carried his arms weird. He would get mad and scream when you'd lay him on his back. He's 16 months now and his body still looks odd. He has a 2 year old brother who didn't sleep in a swing and his body is normal proportion wise. I wouldnt recommend it. Maybe for naps but not over night. They cant roll over, stretch out, move much. Imagine how sore and stiff you'd be if you had to lay in the same position for 6 hours. Why risk it?

Last night he slept almost 6 hours in his swing. It was wonderful to have that much sleep. But today my mother got mad at me, telling me its unsafe and it will stunt his growth. I thought it was perfectly fine.
I followed what the doctor said in the 'The Most Happiest baby' or something. I forgotwhat its called. But every night I wrap him tightly and rock him til he dozes off, and i just bought the swing like 2 days ago. He slept wonderful.

My mother says it will damage his back and stunt his growth.

Is that really true? is it bad to let him sleep on the swing all night?

the swing almost looks like a carseat shae but its more like he is laying down. like a carseat that is laid back. its bigger than him but he fits good.

thank you ladies <3

oh man i would never have gotten any sleep without the swing with my son for the first several months, just be prepared for it to become a habbit though.. i loved that swing.. it was my best friend lol seriously my son was very VERY colicy and the motion of the swing was the only thing that let him relax enough to sleep.

oh yes and my son is gonna be two on sunday, the doctor says he is following the same growth pattern as my daughter did which is just fine.

the midwife told me not to let them sleep in the swing incase of SIDS

but i used to let my son sleep in it during the day while i could keep an eye on him

but by all means, if it allows both of you to get some sleep do it, my son was sleeping through the night by two months so i didnt have that problem, if he was a bad sleeper i would've done the same as you

i really dont think it can stunt his growth, that sounds a bit silly to me... if that were true they wouldnt make the swings surely

I think it's fine but he will not fit in it when he is 9mos. old. My son is 10 mos. old and when he was 2 mos I started to put 1 teaspoon of cereal in his milk and he Slept!! Try doing it in his morning bottle first and if you don't have any problems for 2 days, then give him another AFTER he takes his bath for the night. After a period of time, slowly add more cereal. Sweet Dreams!!!!

After my daughter got her first set of shots she cried for 3 days. She slept in her swing in our room during that time and it was the only way to calm her down enough for her to sleep.

I was only concerned that she would become dependant on it, but she doesn't even like her swing now. $180 wasted.

my nephew slept in his swing and bouncy seat all the time. just make sure you keep one eye open to make sure nothing mechanical goes wrong haha good luck adn congratulations.

Oh my god!! Do not I repeat do not let your baby sleep like this to dangerous he could suffocate. He could vomit. Heard of crib death?? promise you won't do this anymore.
